Series for Excellence in Financial Management

Created by a professional accountant who regularly works with businesses and organizations, the new Series for Excellence in Financial Management was developed to respond to the common questions and challenges managers experience when it comes to financial management. Understand the elements of building an operational budget.  Feeling comfortable and confident with the meaning of financial terms and reading financial statements can ease the strain of month end reporting. You’ve been told to make the case for that additional position that you know is needed. What should you include in your business case to ensure you have success? Decision making is challenging but having financial data to guide you will make that process less taxing. 

Financial information can be most helpful to drive decision-making or measure results. Understanding how financial information is collected and what it is and is not telling you takes some skills. The Series for Excellence in Financial Management includes four seminars focused on the topics most managers should understand.  

Seminars can be taken individually or complete all four to receive your certificate of completion for the Series for Excellence in Financial Management.

Participants must complete Operational Budgets plus three requires seminars within a two-year period. Seminars can be taken individually.

Budgets are a powerful tool to drive financial performance, provided they are done right. Understanding how budgets should be prepared, reviewed and compared to actual results will make the budget process in your organization more efficient.

Understanding Financial Statements

Learn how to understand and interpret financial statements. The mysteries of accounting terminology will be revealed. Deepen your understanding of balance sheets and income statements.

• December 12 - 13, 2024 (Online)

 

Financial Forecasting 

Forecasting is a delicate balance of extrapolating from the past and predicting the future. For businesses the ability to build financial forecasts is key to business planning. Participants will learn when a forecast is the tool to use and how to prepare the financial portion of a business case.

Financial Decision-Making

We all have to make financial decisions in business. The hardest part can be figuring out how to approach it, what information do we need, how do we prepare the analysis. What numbers should we crunch? This one day session will help participants with an approach to solving business decisions.
