Giving Tuesday

Help us fight food insecurity and make a big difference.

In 2023, alumni, faculty and staff helped to raise more than $37,000 to help fight food insecurity, supporting more than 3,800 student visits to our Community Food Room.

On December 3, double your impact. The J & W Murphy Foundation and Saint Mary’s University Alumni Association have pledged to match all individual donations to Saint Mary’s Student Wellness Fund to help promote food security for post-secondary students.

“Given the tough economic times many people are in, I think it’s a lot to ask students to worry about what's in their cupboards when they are devoting themselves to learning that can make all the difference for them and for society,” says Lisa Murphy BA’88 LLB’92, co-director of the foundation with her sister, Karen Spaulding.

“That’s why we are thrilled to be part of Giving Tuesday again. I love that this is a provincewide initiative. But more than that, I love that it makes the wider community more aware of how hard it is to earn a university degree and that we can all do something to make that journey easier.”

Through the generous partnership with the J & W Murphy Foundation and SMU Alumni Association, your donation, regardless of size, will make a big difference in supporting our students.

With your help, we can help ensure our students don’t go hungry this holiday season because a world without hunger is truly a World without limits.
